The Sunday Star Times goes on to suggest fresh for​eign in​vest​ment in Auck​land can​not help but have an im​pact on New Zealand’s con​struc​tion sec​tor.
The article goes on to quote Marcus
….ac​cord​ing to a lead​ing cor​po​rate lawyer in Auck​land. Mar​cus Bev​eridge of Queen City Law says peo​ple would be ‘‘stag​gered’’ by the amount of money gen​er​ated from Auck​land com​mer​cial prop​erty sales to largely main​land Chi​nese in​vestors in the last year.
He es​ti​mates that in the last year, about $600 mil​lion worth of in​ner-city de​vel​op​ment sites have changed hands or are in the process of do​ing so, with many of the deals not yet pub​lic.
Bev​eridge, who works with many of the pur​chasers, said his con​cern was not the ori​gin of the in​vestors but the pres​sures that such an in​flux of work might have.
